The Farm Community Center is one of our original buildings from the communal period, 1971-1983
The framework is constructed from recycled lumber.
The exterior brick was recycled from a factory that the community demolished in a nearby town back in 1974.
The deck to the entrance is made from cedar lumber, naturally rot and bug resistant, the green alternative to treated wood.
The wide and expansive interior is made possible through recycled steel beams which support the ceiling and roof.
The floor is tongue and groove hardwood recycled from a school gymnasium the community salvaged for materials in the late 1970s.
This mural was painted by students from The Farm School in the 1970s, under the tutelage of artist Bernice Davidson.
